Wahidullah Jumazada said that the first explosion occurred in the Rawza area in Ghazni when a vehicle struck a roadside bomb, which killed eight civilians and wounded one person, sources.

The second explosion occurred when a security forces vehicle struck another roadside bomb as they arrived at the scene of the first explosion.

This happens amid high violence in the country despite ongoing peace negotiations in Doha.

The casualties were transported by ambulances and police vans to hospitals.

No group has declared accountability for the incident yet.

Afghan authorities also faced criticism this week after 11 children were killed in an air attack by the military that hit a mosque in the northeastern province of Takhar on Wednesday.

The authorities in Kabul insisted that those killed were Taliban fighters operating in that area.

Several educational and cultural centers, mosques, and sports facilities have been attacked in the district in recent years, and most of the attacks have been claimed by the militants of the Islamic State (IS) group.
