A Staff Member Of Indian Cricket Team Tested Positive For Coronavirus

BCCI announced team India's squad for the upcoming Australia tour on Monday evening. But now a support staff member of the Indian cricket team management tested positive for the coronavirus, marking the first case of COVID-19 to hit the national side. According to sources, the member of the support staff was kept under strict quarantine as per regulation.

The staff member who was supposed to join the team in Dubai on Sunday ahead of the upcoming Australia tour will now quarantine for 14 days before traveling to Australia.

“The support staff member has been kept under quarantine and only after his test turns negative will he be allowed to join the team in Dubai,” a source in the BCCI was quoted as saying as per a report by The Indian Express.

According to reports team India head coach Ravi Shastri, bowling coach Bharat Arun, batting coach Vikram Rathour, fielding coach R. Sridhar and manager Girish Dongre is said to have reached Dubai on Sunday to enter the bio-bubble before the Australian series.

India will tour Australia later in November and play four three T20s, three ODIs & four Test matches following the completion of the IPL in the UAE. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the squads for the Test, ODI, and T20I series on Monday evening.

This will be India’s first international tour during this covid-19 pandemic.

As BCCI announced squads for the Australia tour and after this one big news makes worries the Indian cricket fans that Rohit Sharma has been ruled out for the tour due to a hamstring injury. K.L. Rahul, who has been impressive in the IPL from his batting point of view so far, will feature in the Test format while Varun Chakravarthy received his maiden call-up for the national side. Kamlesh Nagarkoti, Kartik Tyagi, Ishan Porel, and T. Natarajan are the four extra bowlers who have been included in the contingent to Australia. Hanuma Vihari and Cheteshwar Pujara have also arrived in Dubai to enter the bio-bubble ahead of the tour as per reports.
