The official manifesto, titled 'Prann Hamara, Sankalp Badlav Ka' was released by Rashtriya Janata Dal [RJD] leader Tejashwi Yadav, the Chief Ministerial face of the Mahagathbandhan, in the presence of party spokesperson Manoj Jha, Congress leaders Randeep Singh Surjewala and other leaders.

On manifesto, Tejashwi said his party would fulfill all promises made to the people.

“People used to make fun of where we will generate employment. Now, you must understand there is a difference between earning and employment. Here we are talking about government jobs. There are plenty of employment opportunities for teachers, nurses, doctors, police forces lab technicians, he said adding that Bihar needs more police force for the betterment of law and order in the state. Manipur is a smaller state but it has more police per lakh population than Bihar,” Tejashwi said.

The RJD manifesto said nearly 10 lakh government jobs would be given in the very first state Cabinet meeting after returning to power as well as the overthrow of the contractual labor system.

The RJD manifesto covers 17 major promises, including special priority to employment, agriculture, industry, infrastructure development, cultural heritage and construction sectors in the state, community development, poverty alleviation, and education.

Here are some of the main highlights of RJD's Manifesto:

  • Waiver of application fees for applying in govt jobs and govt exams

  • Recruitment of Contractual teachers and Urdu teachers

  • New industrial policy

  • Tax waiver scheme for new industries in Bihar.

  • Installation of CCTV in villages

  • Increase in pension from Rs 400 per month to Rs 1,000 per month for poor and old age people

It also vows to further establish self-help groups and priority to higher education and employment. It promises to implement local policy in any government job in the state, ensuring at least 85 percent reservation for local candidates.

The manifesto also pledged to provide 'equal wages for equal work' to the people of Bihar and implement the old pension scheme.

To address the young voters of Bihar, the RJD assured no fee for filling examination forms for government jobs and free travel to examination centers in Bihar.

Publishing the manifesto, Tejashwi said, "We are not making tall commitments but will fulfill the commitments made to the people of Bihar." Tejashwi also dubbed the BJP's promise of giving 19 lakh jobs as a tactic to mislead the electorate in Bihar.

Tejashwi also took a taunt at Bihar CM Nitish Kumar's promise of providing 19 lakh jobs, Tejashwi said, "Who is the CM face of the BJP? Nitish Kumar. Was he able to provide jobs? He already surrendered and said he couldn’t give more jobs. Then how will BJP offer 19 lakh jobs? Whom are they fooling?”.

The RJD is set to contest the upcoming Bihar Election in alliance with the Congress and the Left parties alliance called Mahagathbandhan.

The elections for 243 Assembly seats will be held in three phases - for 71 seats on October 28, for 94 seats on November 3, and the remaining 78 on November 7. The results will be announced on November 10.
